Indian Railways has completed manufacturing its first hydrogen-powered train on a pilot basis, designed and developed entirely in India.
The 10-coach train is the world’s longest hydrogen train on Broad Gauge and delivers 2,400 kW of power.
A dedicated hydrogen plant at Jind produces hydrogen through electrolysis for the train’s fuel needs.
The train-set comprises two Driving Power Cars of 1,200 kW each and eight passenger coaches, emitting only water vapor and no CO₂.
