Annapurna Devi Honoured with Special Cover by India Post

• India Post released a special cover to commemorate the birth centenary of the legendary Surbahar player and Indian classical musician Annapurna Devi.
• The special cover was released on 9 March 2026 at the Kolkata General Post Office (GPO) in the presence of Sukriti Gupta, Director Postal Services, Kolkata Region.
• Annapurna Devi was an artist of the Maihar Gharana, the daughter of Baba Alauddin Khan, and the sister of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
• Her name was bestowed upon her by Maharaja Brijnath Singh of the Maihar State.
• Her notable students included Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ashish Khan, Dakshina Mohan Tagore, Basant Kabra, Sudhir Phadke, and Nityanand Haldipur.
• The Annapurna Devi Foundation organised a three-day classical music festival from 6 March to 8 March 2026 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar to mark the centenary celebration.
