Botanical Survey of India (BSI) rediscovers Henckelia monophylla in Arunachal Pradesh after 189 years

Researchers at St. Xavier’s College, Jharkhand, identified Hemileccinum indicum, a new mushroom species, in the oak forests of Uttarakhand at 2,600 m altitude. This is the first record of the genus Hemileccinum in India.

The new plant species Osbeckia zubeengargiana was discovered in Assam. Researchers Barnali Das and Prof. Namita Nath from the Botany Department of Gauhati University described the species.

The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) identified two new lichen moth species named Caulocera hollowayi and Asura buxa. Caulocera hollowayi was discovered in Sikkim and Asura buxa in West Bengal.
