Dinesh Trivedi, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is likely to be appointed as India's next High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
Trivedi previously served as the Railway Minister and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government as a member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
He has served as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal and as a Lok Sabha MP from Barrackpore.
Trivedi joined the BJP in February 2021 after leaving the TMC.
Pranay Verma, the former High Commissioner to Bangladesh, was appointed as the next Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU).
Pranay Verma is a 1994-batch diplomat who took charge as High Commissioner in Dhaka in September 2022.
