• Tipra Motha Party won 24 out of 28 seats in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) local body elections.
• The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured four seats in the council, including two unreserved seats.
• Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma launched a new political party named One Northeast.
• The One Northeast party includes Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and former Nagaland minister Mmhonlümo Kikon.
• The TTAADC governs approximately 70 per cent of the territory in Tripura and influences 20 tribal-reserved seats in the State Assembly.
• Security for the counting process involved 24 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Tripura State Rifles (TSR).
• Village council elections for the TTAADC are scheduled to be held in July after a 10-year gap following a Supreme Court (SC) order.
