Chaitanya Self Help Group (SHG) Solar Power Plant Inaugurated in Khammam, Telangana

• A 1 MW solar power plant set up by the Chaitanya Self Help Group (SHG) was inaugurated at Venkatapuram in Errupalem mandal of Khammam district, Telangana.
• The solar power plant was constructed at a cost of ₹2.84 crore and is the first project of its kind in India to be established by an SHG.
• The Chaitanya SHG is expected to earn approximately ₹4.5 lakh per month from the plant, according to the Managing Director of the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd.
• A pilot project has been initiated to supply solar power to all villages in the Bonakal mandal.
• The power demand in the state has increased from 15,000 MW to 18,480 MW.
