- Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development (R&D) and Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), inaugurated a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) field training and demonstration centre.
- The facility was established at the Burari plains in Delhi on May 6, 2026, to strengthen preparedness for radiological and nuclear emergencies.
- Developed as a DRDO CBRN Centre of Excellence, the site features a dedicated radiological and nuclear test bed, a heavy ion research facility, and units for emergency medical response.
- The centre operates under the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) and will provide training to personnel from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
- The event was attended by Director General (DG) Soldier Support System Dr Upendra Kumar Singh, DG Production Coordination and Services Interaction Dr Chandrika Kaushik, and DG Resource and Management Dr Ravindra Singh.
