Google launches Google AI Educator Series (GES) for teacher training in India

Key facts

• Google announced the Google AI Educator Series (GES) at the Education World Forum 2026 in London to train school and higher education teachers on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as Gemini.
• The initiative involves partnerships with the governments of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Assam, the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, and the Punjab School Education Board to provide mobile-first AI training.
• The training modules will be localised into six Indian languages, specifically Assamese, Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Odia, and Punjabi, during the first year of pilot projects.
• The programme aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which identifies AI as a critical area for teacher training, flexible learning, and technology integration across subjects.
• Google previously collaborated with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) to develop India’s first AI-enabled state university.
