India's gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for April reached a record high of ₹2.42 lakh crore, an 8.7% increase compared to the same month last fiscal year.
The previous record high was ₹2.37 lakh crore in April 2025.
Net GST collections for April 2026 stood at ₹2.11 lakh crore, marking a 7.3% year-on-year increase.
Total refunds rose 19.3% year-on-year to ₹31,793 crore, leading to a net GST revenue of ₹2,10,909 crore for the month.
Gross import revenue increased by 25.8% to ₹57,580 crore, while gross domestic revenue rose by 4.3% to ₹1.85 lakh crore.
Net revenue from customs (GST on imports) surged by 42.9%, while net domestic revenue grew by 0.3%.
Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat continued to anchor collections with steady growth.
Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, and Telangana recorded healthy gains or strong increases.
Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, and Jharkhand saw declines in pre-settlement revenues.
