Mission Sikkim Organics Launched with ₹360 Crore Outlay

Key facts

• Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia launched Mission Sikkim Organics with a total programme outlay of ₹360 crore during the 51st Statehood Day of Sikkim.
• The mission aims to benefit over 66,000 farmer families by transforming the state into a globally integrated premium organic economy with a focus on value chains for large cardamom and ginger.
• MDoNER will contribute ₹85 crore towards core infrastructure and aggregation systems in partnership with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
• Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Union Minister Scindia inaugurated 21 development projects worth ₹223 crore, including road connectivity works under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS).
• Specific projects include the Namthang Bazar water supply, a Bamboo Industrial Park, the Rimbi Khola–Yuksam road, academic blocks at Burtuk and Kamrang colleges, and the remodeling of Burtuk Heliport.
