Netherlands and India Collaborate on Sustainable Spice Value Chains (May 06, 2026)

Key facts

• The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for South India and the World Spice Organisation (WSO) organised a seminar on “Sustainable Spice Value Chains”.
• India exports over 250 varieties of spices and value-added products to more than 180 countries.
• The Spices Board promotes Good Agricultural Practices, Scientific Crop-Management Practices, Integrated Pest Management, Hygienic Processing Systems, and Farmer-Capacity Building Programmes.
• The Netherlands collaborates with India through trade partnerships and sustainability initiatives aligned with United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals.
• The National Sustainable Spices Program (NSSP), launched in 2019, covers chilli, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and pepper, involving over 35,000 farmers through Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
