Key facts

The Central Government launched the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) to provide practical workplace experience to one crore young people over a period of five years.
The pilot phase of the PMIS commenced in 2024-25 with a target of offering 1.25 lakh internship opportunities across various sectors.
The internships under the PMIS are structured for a duration of 12 months, ensuring at least half of the period is dedicated to hands-on work experience.
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000, which includes ₹4,500 from the government and ₹500 from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of the company.
The government will provide a one-time grant of ₹6,000 to each intern to support incidental expenses during the internship programme.
