Key facts

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), in partnership with Vertis Foundation, is expanding 'Project Saksham' to provide vocational training and employment to rural women and underserved youth.
The initiative currently operates through 12 training centres across the country, having trained over 6,000 youth, with more than 4,000 beneficiaries securing employment.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), participants earn average monthly incomes between ₹13,000 and ₹16,000.
Women constitute more than 80 per cent of the programme's beneficiaries.
Participants are trained in vocational disciplines including electrical work, plumbing, appliance repair, tailoring, nursing assistance, and multi-skill technician programmes.
