- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the licence of the Mumbai-based Sarvodaya Co-operative Bank due to inadequate capital and earning prospects.
- The bank will cease banking business with effect from the close of business on May 12, 2026.
- The RBI has directed the Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Maharashtra, to order the winding up of the bank and appoint a liquidator.
- Depositors are entitled to receive insurance claims up to ₹5 lakh from the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC).
