Key facts

South Coast Railway (SCoR) is the 18th zone of Indian Railways (IR), with its headquarters located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The zone was established under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014 and received ex post facto approval from the Union Cabinet on February 7, 2025.
SCoR comprises four divisions, namely Guntakal, Guntur, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam, created by carving areas from East Coast Railway (ECoR) and South Central Railway (SCR).
A total of ₹184 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the zonal headquarters on 52.2 acres of land at Mudasarlova.
Operations for the new zone are expected to commence from June 1, 2026, to manage railway projects worth approximately ₹1,06,000 crore currently underway in Andhra Pradesh.
