  • The Election Commission of India (ECI) has rolled out Phase III of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise across 16 states and three Union Territories to update and verify electoral rolls.
  • The exercise will be conducted nationwide except in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh.
  • Approximately 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will perform door-to-door verification of around 36.73 crore registered voters, supported by 3.42 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
  • The SIR Phase III schedule is aligned with the Census house-listing exercise and aims to remove duplicate, shifted, and deceased voters.
