The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved a ₹1,570 crore project to establish a ship repair facility at Vadinar, Gujarat.
The project will be jointly implemented by the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).
DPA will invest ₹650 crore for civil infrastructure, including a 650-metre jetty, while CSL will invest approximately ₹920 crore for ship repair infrastructure, including two large floating dry docks.
The brownfield facility will be capable of repairing vessels up to 300 metres in length and is expected to be completed within 36 months.
The project is projected to generate around 290 direct jobs and over 1,100 indirect employment opportunities.
