World Migration Report 2026 released by International Organisation for Migration (IOM)

• The International Organisation for Migration (IOM), a United Nations (UN) agency, released the World Migration Report 2026, stating that 304 million people lived outside their country of birth as of mid-2024.
• The Mexico-to-United States (US) corridor remains the largest migration route globally with 11 million people, followed by Afghanistan-to-Iran (3.7 million) and Syria-to-Turkiye (3.5 million).
• The India-United Arab Emirates (UAE) corridor is the fifth-largest globally, with over three million Indians residing in the UAE, making them the top nationality in that country.
• The India-US corridor is the sixth-largest globally with 3.2 million migrants, and the report highlights the influence of the United States-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) on bilateral trade and defence cooperation.
• Other significant India-centric routes in the top 20 international corridors include the Bangladesh-India corridor at the 11th spot and the India-Saudi Arabia corridor at the 14th spot.
