Andhra Pradesh Government launches India's first private gold mining project at Swarnagiri

• The Andhra Pradesh government has launched India's first private gold mining project at Swarnagiri (formerly Jonnagiri) in the Kurnool district.
• The project is operated by Geomysore Services India Pvt Ltd (GMSI) with an investment of approximately ₹405 crore across nearly 598 hectares in Tuggali mandal.
• The mine is expected to produce 400 kg of gold during 2026-27, with annual output projected to increase to nearly one tonne and potentially two tonnes following the addition of a second processing unit.
• The state government expects annual revenue of ₹57 crore at a production level of 400 kg and up to ₹144 crore if output reaches 900 kg.
• Other gold-bearing areas under exploration in Andhra Pradesh include the Chigurgunta-Bisanatham block and sites in Anantapur district including Boksampalli, Ramagiri, and Javakula.
