Bangladesh formally joined the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) on 24 June 2026, bringing the total number of member countries to 27.
The IBCA is a treaty-based global entity headquartered in New Delhi and was established in 2024 as an initiative of India.
The alliance focuses on the conservation of seven big cat species: tiger, lion, leopard, snow leopard, cheetah, jaguar, and puma.
India is currently home to five of these seven species, excluding only the jaguar and the puma, out of 95 total big cat range countries.
