Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur Sign MoU for Telecom Technologies

• Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the joint research, development, testing, deployment, and commercialisation of next-generation telecom technologies.
• The collaboration focuses on advanced communication technologies and the integration of broadcasting and digital communication infrastructure, complementing BSNL's existing work in Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology.
• BSNL is developing the Bharat Mesh Network, a nationwide wireless connectivity framework designed to support users across different access technologies, including 4G and Wi-Fi.
• BSNL has commenced the rollout of the BharatNet programme with a target to achieve completion within a fixed three-year timeframe.
• BSNL is transitioning towards an all-IP platform and will utilise the expertise of IIT Kanpur to develop indigenous products and technologies tailored for India, particularly for rural areas.
