India and France inaugurate Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice

Key facts

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated Bharat Innovates 2026, a three-day global deep tech showcase and accelerator initiative organised by India's education ministry in Nice.
• The maiden edition of Bharat Innovates features more than 120 leading deep-tech startups from India and more than 15 Indian higher education institutions.
• The event was announced during President Macron's February trip to India as part of the 'India-France Year of Innovation'.
• The participating startups focus on 13 frontier technology themes: semiconductors, biotechnology, space and defence, healthcare and medtech, advanced computing (artificial intelligence, cloud, quantum), next-gen communications, advanced materials and critical minerals, manufacturing and Industry 4.0, energy, sustainability and climate, smart cities and mobility, blue economy, agri and food technologies, and disaster management and resilience.
• Prime Minister Modi attended the Group of Seven (G7) Summit as an invitee in Evian, marking India's 13th participation and his seventh consecutive appearance at the event.
