India's Bus and Truck Replacement Scheme for Delhi-NCR with ₹9,585 crore outlay

• The scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet in June 2026 and is administered by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
• The scheme has an outlay of ₹9,585 crore and aims to replace over 2 lakh BS-IV or earlier trucks and buses in Delhi-NCR with BS-VI or electric vehicles.
• Target beneficiaries include approximately 1.91 lakh truck owners and 16,329 bus owners in Delhi-NCR.
• Ashok Leyland and its subsidiary Switch Mobility became the first original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MoRTH, offering an 8% discount on eligible vehicles.
• Additional incentives include a 5% interest subvention on vehicle loans, fixed monthly fuel vouchers for five years, and state governments offering up to 100% concession on motor vehicle tax for ten years with waiver of registration fees.
