India showcases next-generation indigenous defence arsenal at Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Hazira facility

Key facts

• The Zorawar light tank, developed with the Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), is a 25-tonne tank armed with a 105 mm gun designed for plains, deserts, and high-altitude regions.
• The K9 Vajra-T is a 155 mm tracked self-propelled artillery system manufactured by L&T in collaboration with South Korea's Hanwha Defence and is deployed in eastern Ladakh.
• The Trajan is a 155 mm towed artillery gun system developed by L&T in collaboration with the French defence company KNDS.
• The BvS-10 Sindhu is an articulated all-terrain vehicle, a modified version of Sweden's BvS10, currently in service with the Indian Army.
• The TEJASTRA High Energy Laser System is an indigenous technology designed for counter-drone and missile-defence roles.
• An upgraded close-in weapon system based on the L-70 gun platform, which was used during Operation Sindoor to counter Pakistani drones, was displayed.
• The Hazira facility showcased an indigenous 1,500-horsepower engine and transmission developed for armoured vehicles.
• A 30 mm unmanned turret equipped with an anti-tank guided missile launcher was developed for the Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) programme.
