• Olympic Day commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by Pierre de Coubertin at the Sorbonne in Paris on 23 June 1894.
• The first Olympic Day was celebrated on 23 June 1948, following a proposal by Czech IOC member Doctor Gruss that was approved at the 42nd IOC Session in St Moritz.
• The theme for Olympic Day 2026 is 'You can do this. Let's Move', which aims to encourage young people to overcome self-doubt and engage in daily physical activity.
• The IOC is partnering with the Abhinav Bindra Foundation and Reliance Foundation to implement the Let’s Move campaign in India through school initiatives and athlete-led content.
• Olympic Day runs, first launched in 1987 to promote mass sport, are organised globally by National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to celebrate the values of solidarity, inclusion, and sustainability.
