PM JI-VAN Yojana: ₹150 Crore assistance for India's first private hybrid 2G ethanol project

• The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), under the PM JI-VAN Yojana, has approved financial assistance of ₹150 crore for India's first private-sector Hybrid 2G Ethanol Project.
• The project is located in Uttar Pradesh and is designed to produce sustainable second-generation (2G) ethanol from sugarcane bagasse and other agricultural residues.
• The integrated biorefinery will have a capacity of 91 KLPD and utilises a waste-to-fuel pathway based on biomass gasification and gas fermentation technologies.
• Spray Engineering Devices Limited (SED) is responsible for the engineering, development, and execution of the biorefinery, while Ankur Scientific Energy Technologies provides the biomass-to-syngas conversion platform.
• LanzaTech provides the proprietary gas fermentation platform used to convert synthesis gas (syngas) into sustainable ethanol.
