Project THRIVE: Incentives for Industrial Relocation in Gujarat
Exam-focused facts from the 14 June 2026 current affairs briefing.
Key facts
- The Gujarat government proposed Project Transition for Harmonized Relocation and Inclusive Vibrant Economy (THRIVE) to encourage industries within municipal corporation limits to relocate outside urban areas.
- Under the framework, a minimum of 10 industrial units can jointly establish a private industrial estate outside the jurisdiction of an Urban Development Authority (UDA), or relocate independently.
- Relocated units will be treated as new units for government incentives and will receive a wage support subsidy of ₹5,000 per employee per month for six months.
- The state government will reimburse 50% of the development cost to the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) if it establishes a new estate specifically for relocating industries.
- GIDC will obtain blanket environmental clearances for relocation estates to eliminate the need for individual units to secure separate environmental clearances.
