- Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated India’s seventh Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) at Jammu on June 5, 2026.
- The RMC Jammu will provide specialised weather services and disaster warnings for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, while a future centre in Lucknow will cater to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
