Digital India Programme: ₹10,000 Crore IndiaAI Mission and ₹1.65 Lakh Crore Semiconductor Projects Approved

Key facts

• The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) stated that the Digital India programme has completed 11 years, shifting focus toward Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and quantum technologies for a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
• Under the IndiaAI Mission, the government has allocated an outlay exceeding ₹10,000 crore to create shared computing infrastructure and support 15 indigenous foundation models.
• The Semicon India Programme has approved 12 projects worth ₹1.65 lakh crore, including the inauguration of CG Semi's Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Sanand, Gujarat.
• The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) processes approximately 24,162 crore transactions annually valued at ₹314 lakh crore, while the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is now shared with 24 countries.
• Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes have transferred over ₹51.5 lakh crore to beneficiaries, while the National Quantum Mission has been allocated ₹6,003.65 crore to strengthen deep-tech capabilities.
