Key facts
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) signed two major contracts under the Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) Mk-II programme.
- The first contract was signed with AI Engineering Services Limited (AIESL) for conversion of six A321 aircraft from commercial to green configuration.
- The second contract was signed with Adani Defence Systems and Technologies Limited (ADSTL) as development-cum-production partner (DcPP) for mission systems of the AEW&C Mk-II programme.
- The AEW&C Mk-II system, with Centre for Air Borne Systems (CABS) as the nodal laboratory, will provide enhanced endurance, advanced airborne surveillance, secure communication, improved situational awareness, and enhanced command and control capabilities.
- The Netra AEW&C System recently received final operational clearance.
