India to host Aero India 2027 in Bengaluru from February 8

Key facts

• The 16th edition of Aero India, Asia's largest airshow, will be held from February 8 to 12, 2027, at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru.
• Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will serve as the nodal agency for the biennial event on behalf of the Department of Defence Production, supported by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
• India's annual defence production reached a record ₹1.78 lakh crore in the financial year (FY) 2025-26.
• The government aims to achieve defence manufacturing worth ₹3 lakh crore and defence exports of ₹50,000 crore by 2029-30.
• India's defence exports hit a record ₹38,424 crore in FY 2025-26, with the number of exporters increasing from 128 to 145.
• Exported hardware includes missiles, artillery guns, rockets, armoured vehicles, offshore patrol vessels, personal protective gear, radars, surveillance systems, ammunition, components, and systems/sub-systems.
• Recent export agreements include the supply of BrahMos cruise missiles and Astra beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles to Indonesia.
• According to a Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) report, India is the world's second-largest importer of military hardware, accounting for 8.2% of global weapon imports.
