• The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Olympics will feature six-team men's and women's T20 competitions.
• Australia, Great Britain (through England), India, and South Africa have secured women's Olympic berths as the highest-placed eligible teams from their respective continents in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026.
• For the men's tournament, four automatic places will be awarded to the highest-ranked eligible teams from Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania in the ICC Men's T20I rankings as of 31 December 2026.
• The United States of America (USA) must finish in the top 15 of the ICC T20I rankings during the 2026 qualification window to secure automatic host berths for both competitions.
• A newly introduced ICC Olympics Qualifier in 2027, featuring eight teams per gender, will determine the final Olympic berths for the tournament held at a purpose-built venue in Pomona.
