NITI Aayog launches Strategic Roadmap for Making Ayurveda Global

• The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) launched the 'Strategic Roadmap for Making Ayurveda Global' to transform Ayurveda into a globally recognised, evidence-based healthcare system by 2047.
• Exports of Ayush products increased to $2.16 billion in 2023 from $1.09 billion in 2014.
• The roadmap recommends upgrading manufacturing standards to World Health Organisation-GMP (WHO-GMP) equivalence and developing an export-focused ayurvedic pharmacopoeia.
• It proposes creating a Global Ayurveda Register with WHO-aligned digital credentials and establishing mutual recognition agreements with G20, BRICS, and ASEAN.
• The strategy includes developing international ayurveda treatment hubs in Mauritius, medical value travel zones in India, and premium experience centres in Geneva, New York, London, Singapore, and Tokyo.
