Overview of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Australia from July 8-10, 2026

• The third India-Australia Annual Summit was held in Melbourne from July 8 to 10, 2026, between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
• India and Australia signed a Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation, renewing the 2009 Joint Declaration on Security and committing to increased military exercise complexity, interoperability, information sharing, aircraft deployments, and defence personnel exchanges.
• A Maritime Security Collaboration Roadmap was concluded to enhance cooperation through information sharing, capability development, and operational coordination.
• An MoU was signed between the Indian Coast Guard and Australia’s Maritime Border Command to support maritime law enforcement, domain awareness, and maritime border protection.
• The two countries launched the Australia-India Partnership on Cyber, Critical Technologies and Supply Chains (PACTS), covering supply chain resilience, critical technology, cybersecurity, digital resilience, and defence research collaboration.
• Administrative arrangements under the India-Australia Civil Nuclear Agreement were finalised, enabling Australian uranium exports to India for exclusively peaceful purposes under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards.
