Banas Bio-CNG Model Plant inaugurated in Banaskantha, Gujarat

• The Banas Bio-CNG Model Plant was inaugurated at Vinchhiwadi in Dhanera taluka, Banaskantha district, Gujarat.
• It is a joint initiative of Banas Dairy, Suzuki Motor Corporation, and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
• The plant includes a bio-CNG filling station and marks the launch of India's first rural-level cooperative-model 'Gramin Bharat Taxi' service with nine taxis.
• Suzuki Motor Corporation chairman Toshio Suzuki stated that Japan and India have jointly resolved to establish 1,000 biogas plants across India.
• The bio-CNG initiative involves an investment of Rs 250 crore and has expanded to four operational plants with a combined daily capacity of 340 metric tonnes.
• Banas Dairy chairman Shankar Chaudhary said Banaskantha, with around three million livestock, has the potential to support about 100 such plants.
