• The Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center's humanoid robot Tiangong Ultra completed the 100m sprint in 9.39 seconds at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing.
• Tiangong Ultra's time beat Usain Bolt's human world record of 9.58 seconds set at the 2009 World Athletics Championships.
• The robot improved from its 21.50-second run at the inaugural games last year, a reduction of over 12 seconds.
• Tiangong Ultra also won the world's first humanoid robot half-marathon in Beijing last year.
• Another robot, Lightning, clocked 9.32 seconds in a preparatory test with a peak speed of 14.5 metres per second.
• Lightning's legs were lengthened by 10 cm ahead of the games, according to Chinese broadcaster CCTV.
• The World Humanoid Robot Games this year featured 2,056 robots from 666 teams across 16 countries.
