Department of Financial Services (DFS) Organizes Two-Day PSB Confluence 2026

• The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, organized the two-day PSB Confluence 2026 for senior leadership of public sector banks (PSBs) and public financial institutions (PFIs).
• Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the Confluence and highlighted seven themes for advancing the banking sector, financial inclusion, and credit.
• Sitharaman announced that a High-powered Committee on Banking Reforms for Viksit Bharat will be announced soon, with Confluence conclusions to feed into it.
• She stated that historically low NPA levels place the banking sector in a position of strength for the next phase of reforms.
• On Banking for Youth, she said 29% of India's population is aged 15–29 and noted Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) has over 2.60 crore registered users.
• Day 1 focused on four themes: deposit mobilisation, banking for youth, supporting the investment cycle, and global capability centres (GCCs).
• Day 2 will cover agriculture and horticulture value chain infrastructure, priority sector lending, and reimagining the credit card business.
