- Karnataka Industries Minister M B Patil announced the expansion of the Tumakuru industrial node through acquisition of 1,736 acres of land.
- The expansion is expected to attract investments worth ₹7,000 crore into Karnataka.
- The announcement was made at the third meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust.
- The Tumakuru node is part of the Bengaluru–Chennai Industrial Corridor and has achieved 30% physical progress and 20% financial progress.
- Of the earmarked land, 300 acres have been allotted for a Japan Industrial Township and 200 acres for micro, small and medium enterprises.
