M.P. Parameswaran was born on 18 January 1935 and died at his residence in Kottappuram on 11 August 2026 at the age of 91.
He served as a nuclear scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) from 1957 to 1975.
He was a founding leader of Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) and the All India People's Science Network.
He authored the book 'Fourth World: Dream and Reality' and was expelled from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) in 2004 due to his 'Fourth World' theory.
He served as editor of the weekly 'Chintha' from 1975 to 1984.
Under his leadership, KSSP received the Right Livelihood Award in 1996 and the UNESCO Literacy Award in 1990.
He was honoured with the Keralasree award by the Kerala government in 2022.
He was a member of the Sen Committee appointed by the Kerala government in 1996 to study decentralisation of power.
