The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Monisha Chakraborty as Executive Director with effect from August 3, 2026.
Prior to this, she served as Chief General Manager-in-Charge in the Department of Supervision.
She has over three decades of experience in the RBI, having worked in Supervision, Foreign Exchange, and Government and Bank Accounts.
She will oversee the Foreign Exchange Department and the Financial Markets Regulation Department.
She has also served as Banking Ombudsman and was associated with a technical committee on the RBI's Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Account.
She holds a degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Business Economics from Delhi University.
