National Cadet Corps (NCC) Organises Cyclothon 2026 in Delhi on August 2 to Mark 79 Years of Independence

• National Cadet Corps (NCC) organised Cyclothon 2026 on August 2, 2026 in Delhi to commemorate 79 years of India's Independence.
• The Cyclothon was flagged off by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya.
• Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, boxer M.C. Mary Kom and tennis player Leander Paes were present at the event.
• NCC Director General Lieutenant General Virendra Vats led 79 NCC cadets in a symbolic 79 km ride.
• The Cyclothon started and concluded at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.
• The event was organised under the theme 'Clean India, Green India, Fit India' and supported national missions including TB Mukt Bharat, Swachh Bharat, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam and Har Ghar Tiranga.
• NCC was established in 1948 with an initial strength of 20,000 cadets and has grown into the world's largest uniformed youth organisation with more than 20 lakh cadets.
• NCC is present in more than 750 districts across India and added six lakh cadets between 2014 and 2025.
