Tamil Nadu notifies three new elephant corridors

• The Tamil Nadu government notified three elephant corridors in the Cauvery North Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Hosur Forest Division.
• The three corridors are Jawalagiri-Ulbanda-Thaggatti (18.50 km), Jawalagiri-Panai-Anchetty (20.90 km), and Bilikkal-Jawalagiri (2.20 km).
• These corridors enable trans-Cauvery migration of elephants and other large mammals between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
• All three corridors lie entirely within reserved forest and sanctuary areas, with no revenue villages, public lands, or private lands within their boundaries.
• The notification was based on recommendations from expert committees constituted pursuant to Madras High Court orders, which identified 41 corridors across two landscapes with the Palghat Gap as the boundary.
