The Delhi government approved the second amendment to the Delhi Solar Energy Policy-2023 on Tuesday.
Households with average monthly electricity consumption up to 400 units will get rooftop solar systems of up to 3kW at zero upfront cost.
The scheme aims to install solar systems on 230,000 rooftops and add 500MW of rooftop solar capacity by March 2027.
For households consuming up to 200 units, a 2kW system will receive total support of ₹1.30 lakh, covering the estimated cost.
Vendors will provide free maintenance for five years under the amended policy.
The scheme will be implemented through a utility-led aggregation model by Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited (IPGCL).
