GalaxEye Becomes First Indian Startup to Secure US Patent for Satellite Imaging Technology

• GalaxEye, an Indian space technology company, became the first Indian startup to receive a US patent for satellite imaging technology, covering the core technology behind its OptoSAR imaging capabilities.
• The US patent covers the architecture and system used to align and synchronise optical and microwave sensors for simultaneous, spatially and temporally matched data acquisition; the same technology has already been granted a patent in India.
• GalaxEye's OptoSAR technology combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical imaging to deliver all-weather, day-and-night Earth observation intelligence.
• On 3 May 2026, GalaxEye launched Mission Drishti, its first satellite and the world's first OptoSAR imaging satellite, combining multispectral imaging and SAR on a single platform.
• At approximately 190 kg, Drishti was India's largest privately built Earth observation satellite at the time of launch.
• GalaxEye plans to scale towards a 30-satellite constellation over the next five years, supporting defence, government and commercial applications including national security, agriculture, infrastructure, insurance, maritime intelligence and disaster management.
