India Wins Nine Medals at International Earth Science Olympiad 2026

• India won a total of nine medals at the International Earth Science Olympiad 2026, including four gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.
• The 19th International Earth Science Olympiad was held from August 20 to August 27 in Italy, with 39 countries participating.
• Union Minister Jitendra Singh felicitated the IESO 2026 winners and reiterated the government's commitment to empower youth through student-centric outreach programmes.
• The selection process for the International Earth Science Olympiad included an all-India test in which about 17,800 students appeared across 500 centres.
• The top 25 meritorious students were selected for a three-week training camp in June 2026 at Maharaja Sayajirao University (M S University), Vadodara, Gujarat.
• Earlier in 2026, Indian students also won gold medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad and the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad.
