Indian-American Scientist Karim Won 2026 Borlaug CAST Communication Award

• Indian-American agricultural scientist Dr. Karim Maredia has been selected for the 2026 Borlaug CAST Communication Award, and the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology will honour him in Washington, D.C., on December 10, 2026.
• Dr. Karim Maredia is an Associate Dean, professor, and Director of the World Agriculture Center at Michigan State University, and he serves as the Foreign Secretary of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of India.
• Maredia earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in India, a Master's degree in Integrated Pest Management from Alabama A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Integrated Pest Management from the University of Arkansas.
• His work includes training more than 15,000 agricultural professionals from eighty countries and writing or editing more than 130 publications.
• The Borlaug CAST Communication Award honours scientists who explain agriculture and food science clearly to the public, and it remembers Dr. Norman Borlaug, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in the Green Revolution.
