MoSPI Launches QPR Portal to Track Data Harmonisation Progress of Central Ministries

Key facts

• The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) held a workshop of Statistical Advisers and Chief Data Officers of Central Ministries and Departments in New Delhi on 8 September 2026, themed 'Data Harmonisation for Use of Administrative Data in Data Driven Governance'.
• Shri Shaktikanta Das, Principal Secretary-2 to the Prime Minister, launched the Quarterly Progress Report (QPR) portal on data harmonisation at qpr.mospi.gov.in.
• The QPR portal enables ministries to report dataset cataloguing, metadata preparation, use of common unique identifiers and quality checks under the Statistical Quality Assurance Framework (SQAF), with automated validation and cross-verification against the NMDS portal.
• Ministries were urged to set up Data Governance Committees, publish data-sharing frameworks, maintain live dataset inventories and use platforms such as API Setu, data.gov.in, NDAP, AI Kosh, DigiLocker and Entity Locker.
• The stated goal is a harmonised, interoperable National Data System for an AI-ready government, aligned to Viksit Bharat @2047.
• MoSPI's National Statistical Office was formed in 2019 by merging the Central Statistics Office and the National Sample Survey Office, with Dr. Saurabh Garg as Secretary, MoSPI.
