Stanzin Tsangyang Becomes Kargil's First Woman Officer

• Stanzin Tsangyang from Zanskar, Ladakh, became the first female officer from Kargil district to be commissioned into the Indian Army, at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai on September 5, 2026.
• She studied at Lamdon Model School in Leh for nearly fourteen years and later earned a scholarship to study Mechanical Engineering at Tezpur University in Assam.
• Her journey to the Army began when she joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC) during college, and she came from a family with no history of military service.
• Her parents, Tandup Tsering and Rigzin Ladol, traveled from Ladakh to attend her passing-out parade at the Officers Training Academy.
