Key facts
- The Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy, 2024 was notified on March 5, 2024, with the Department of Additional Sources of Energy as the administrative department and the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency as the nodal agency, and it is valid for five years.
- The policy targets annual green hydrogen and green ammonia production capacity of 1 million metric tonnes by 2028 and projects about 1.2 lakh jobs by 2028.
- Eligible projects may receive a capital subsidy of up to 30 per cent, while the first five qualifying projects may receive an enhanced subsidy of up to 40 per cent, subject to ceilings and approval.
- Eligible projects may get government or revenue land on lease at Re 1 per acre per year, a 100 per cent stamp-duty exemption, a 100 per cent electricity-duty exemption for the first ten years, and exemption from specified intra-state transmission, wheeling and cross-subsidy charges.
