IS 19262: 2025 ‘Electric Agricultural Tractors — Test Code’ released to ensure safety and performance standards

• The Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (MoCA,F&PD) released IS 19262: 2025 ‘Electric Agricultural Tractors — Test Code’ on 28 DEC 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
• Developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the standard ensures the safety, reliability, and performance of electric agricultural tractors through uniform and standardized testing protocols.
• IS 19262: 2025 establishes a common understanding among stakeholders regarding terminology and tests for PTO power, drawbar power, and the performance of belts and pulleys.
• The standard was formulated following a request from the Mechanization & Technology Division of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare (MoA&FW) to develop electric tractor standards on priority.
• The implementation of the standard through authorized testing institutes aims to facilitate wider adoption of electric agricultural tractors and contribute to reduced emissions and sustainable mechanization.
